Mrs. Margaret Josephine SWANK, 68, died at 4:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Josephine Gohman, living south of Crawfordsville of carcinoma of the heart. She was a devoted wife and loving mother and was well if not widely known in the community in which she lived for her excellent disposition and exceptionally high character. She had been ill for more than two months. Mrs. Swank was born on Jan 9, 1852 at Crawfordsville, the daughter of Harrison and Nancy Ross. She was married to James W. Swank on July 20, 1873. Surviving her are six children, Mrs. Joseph Gohman of south of this city; Mrs. Bertha Nelson of Indianapolis; George Swank of this city ; Mrs. C H Carpenter of Los Angeles; Mrs. Jack Strahlendorf of Indianapolis and Ira Swank of Crawfordsville; 36 grandchildren and two great grandchildren,,; two sisters, Mrs. Leah Reams of BUffalo NY and Mrs. Emma Downey of Monticello; two brothers, Wilson Ross of Star City and Rufus Ross of Monticello. Her husband and three children preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held at the home of Mrs. Gohman on Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock. Burial will be made in the Oakland cemetery near Elmdale. - kbz
